Whew

Wheeeeeew, it's a new year.
The last one wrapped up hosting family for a couple weeks and a barrage of conversations with different design teams.
The hiring process for design is so interesting, every one is different. If there's one key piece of advice I was given though, it was prepare. Folks will say things about white boarding or any sort of take home like "don't bother preparing it's casual " or other disarming phrases to make the ask seem more minimal.
Prepare, study, practice, present to your friends, take the extra time with a '1 hour' take home. If it's an opportunity you're excited about it might make all the difference.
Having been in hiring panels for a while now, so much comes down to to how the candidate or work is perceived by the panel. Kind of a shame in some ways but subjectivity is real and bias is real. With how competitive things are today folks are looking for a strong yes. Gotta give them a reason to advocate for you. Onward!
